The search continues for hugely popular TV doctor Michael Mosley, who was reported missing earlier this week after disappearing from the Greek island of Symi where he was holidaying with his wife Claire.
Now, his friends and loved ones have broken their silence and are praying for his safe recovery.
Jeremy Vine posted a comment on X after news of Michael's disappearance was made public: “I hope this lovely man is found. Thinking of Claire and the Mosley family,” Vine wrote. Money saving expert Martin Lewis also expressed his concern, writing: “Disturbing at the news about Dr Michael Mosley. I hope he is ok.”
Talk radio presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer also voiced her concerns on GB News, saying: “Michael Mosley […] He went missing on a Greek island. A very nice, very nice man. [It’s] I am very, very worried.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday's episode of “The One Show,” host Alex Jones began the show by expressing concern that “our friend” had gone missing.
“Our thoughts go out to his wife Claire and the rest of his family at this worrying time and we hope for more positive news,” she added.
Michael was last seen on Wednesday as he began walking towards the centre of the island. Local police suspended their search late on Thursday but resumed it on Friday morning with reinforcements.
The island's deputy mayor, Ilias Chaskas, told BBC News that people have “searched everywhere” and that “divers are now investigating underwater” with the help of the Greek coastguard.
A helicopter has been dispatched from Athens as part of the search, which is also being assisted by drones searching hard-to-reach areas and police sniffer dogs.
Greek police said Mosley left his wife Claire on the beach and went for a walk in the centre of the island on Wednesday. A police spokesman told BBC News that Mosley's mobile phone was found in the area where he was staying with his wife, who reported him missing.
The 67-year-old presenter is best known for his BBC shows, having also appeared on other programmes including Trust Me, I'm A Doctor, The One Show and ITV's This Morning.
Michael, 67, studied medicine and qualified as a doctor but for the last 20 years has worked as a presenter, documentary maker, journalist and author, and is known as an advocate of intermittent fasting diets such as the 5:2 diet and the Fast 800 diet.
Michael has four children with his wife Clare Bailey Mosley, a physician and healthy living advocate.
