(The Center Square) – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will appear on Florida ballots as a Reform Party candidate after the Florida Department of Elections recertified the party’s party status on Friday.
“We are excited to give Floridians the choice to go independent in November,” Jennifer DeSatoff, chair of the Reform Party of Florida, said in a statement.
“We looked forward to working with the Kennedy campaign here in Florida and making history together.”
The party's national committee nominated Kennedy and running mate Nicole Shanahan as its candidates two weeks ago.
With him as the party's nominee, the party can raise an additional $41,300 from donors, previously limited to $6,600 each.
The party was founded in 1996 by supporters of Ross Perot.
The party said in a statement that it had spent $15 million on ballot access operations to ensure that Kennedy and Shanahan appeared on the ballot in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
The candidate is officially on the ballot in nine states – Utah, Michigan, California, Delaware, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Texas, South Carolina and Florida – and has collected enough signatures to appear on the ballot in nine others.
