The latest presidential polls show Joe Biden and Donald Trump in a virtual neck-and-neck race.
According to a CBS News/YouGov poll, 50% of voters said they support former president and Republican front-runner Trump, while 49% said they support Democrat President Joe Biden.
In the same survey, a majority of overall voters (55%) said Trump's recent conviction in the pornography hush-money trial would not be a factor in their November vote; 28% said it would be a major factor, and 17% said it would be a minor factor. Among likely Trump voters, 71% said the conviction would not be a factor, 15% said they would support Trump regardless of a conviction, and 14% said they would vote to support Trump after a conviction.
While a criminal conviction may not have had a big impact, concerns about the economy did, the poll found: 81% of likely Trump voters said the economy was their main factor in voting, compared with 75% who cited the economy, 74% who cited the state of democracy, and 62% who cited concerns about crime.
Among Biden supporters, 54% said their main reason for voting was opposition to Trump, compared with 27% who said they like the president and 19% who said they were voting because he is the Democratic candidate.
Sixty-seven percent say Trump has a vision to lead the country, compared with 51% who say the same about Biden. Trump received the lowest rating of 37% for compassion in the list of presidential qualities. Biden received the lowest rating of 26% when asked if the president is energetic.
The CBS News/YouGov poll was conducted June 5-7 among 2,063 adults nationwide and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.2 percentage points.
