Miley Cyrus wants “quality, not quantity” when it comes to celebrity relationships.
The “Flowers” singer revealed in a new interview for David Letterman's “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” series that she hasn't played a “very active” role in the celebrity world lately.
“I'm not very active or an active part of the community of other artists or entertainers or celebrities,” she said, reflecting on her 2024 Grammy Awards acceptance and performance.
“When you're in that room, you don't feel like you have my people. But then you have artists like Beyoncé. Like us, we've known them for a long time,” the singer continued.
Cyrus, who was recently featured on the “Renaissance” artist's latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” looked back on the beginning of her relationship with the “Dreamgirls” star, recalling their 2007 performance of “Just Stand Up.”
“I was sandwiched between Rihanna and Beyoncé and now they're all grown up and gorgeous and probably the same age as me now. They're taller than me and just amazing,” Cyrus said.
She continued, “I'm really small and I have acne and I have braces on the back of my teeth and I'm standing next to Mariah Carey in all her diamonds and Beyoncé was so nice to me.”
As for their friendship now, the Disney Channel alum said it's all about “kindness and consistency.”
“I'm part of the community in that sense, but again, it's about quality, not quantity. I'm not very active,” she said.
Later in the episode, the “Wrecking Ball” singer also spoke about inheriting “narcissism” from his famous father, Billy Ray Cyrus, amid rumors of a feud.
She also spoke about the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer's strengths, saying, “He has a natural connection to reality and is very down to earth.”
“He did that all the time, even when he was super famous,” she said.
While she acknowledged that her father had a “really difficult childhood,” she saw her own upbringing in a different light.
“I can talk about the hard times and the struggles of my childhood, but I grew up with food, love and a beautiful, big house. My father didn't have that,” she explained.
