Stacey Dooley and Larry Dean break down the biggest celebrity trials and pop culture controversies of all time, while Jack Remington and Sarell look into some of the most interesting celebrity relationships and what they say about love.
Famously… is a fun and fresh new podcast from BBC Sounds, a fortnightly drop perfect for keeping listeners informed and entertained with the latest hot topics in pop culture.
Famously… In Love launches on Tuesday 18th June and is hosted by presenters Jack Remmington (@jackremmington) and Sarel (@cocosarel). This fascinating new podcast focuses on celebrity love stories and dilemmas. The pop culture experts bring a fresh and entertaining perspective to the famous relationships and pop culture moments we are all obsessed with, delving into the complicated, messy and often outrageous world of celebrity love stories, looking beyond the headlines and bringing nuance and humanity to the drama. Jack and Sarel uncover the truth behind the most PR-drenched and love-filled content and ask the burning questions we all want to know the answers to. Are celebrities making millions off their marriages? Is there a price to pay to promote your relationship? What if your ex wrote a hit album about you? And what can these stories teach us about love in “real life”?
Jack Remington had this to say about the podcast: “From cheating scandals to steamy affairs to the ups and downs of some of the most well-known relationships in the public eye, I'm incredibly excited to be co-hosting Famously…In Love. As a pop culture fanatic, I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of this podcast.”
“Hosting the BBC Sounds podcast with Sarell is such an incredible moment and I can't wait for everyone to join in as we delve into the complex world of love in the spotlight.”
Says Sarel, “I love watching the celebrity world! Gossip and scandals drive us crazy as pop culture lovers! Listeners can expect real opinions and truths as Jack and I break down some of the most famous love stories and heartbreak tales!”
If there's one thing that's sure to pique the public's interest, it's a celebrity on trial, whether in a courtroom or the courtroom of public opinion. Famously… On Trial, which begins Thursday, June 20, teams up hosts Stacey Dooley and comedian Larry Dean to put celebrities in the dock and discuss their most famous trials and controversies. As part of this new weekly podcast, Stacey and Larry dig into the biggest celebrity dramas, legal cases, and pop culture controversies. The two discuss some of the most scandalous, interesting, and downright ridiculous celebrity fights. The courtroom of public opinion heavily influences celebrity trials. Strategic PR efforts, performing lawyers, and carefully chosen courtroom looks are more likely to make headlines than any legal argument. Even if the case never makes it to court, public opinion has a huge power over the careers of even the biggest celebrities.
The two dive into the farce of these “trials,” identifying the heroes and villains in each case and revealing what the real damage was. This latest weekly podcast is a fun, forensic look into some of the most well-known celebrity scandals, from Kendall Jenner's ill-advised Pepsi ad scandal to Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin's hilarious “conscious breakup.”
Stacey Dooley said of Famously… On Trial: “The internet delves into the controversies of famous people in and out of courtroom and holds them accountable in the court of public opinion. With increasingly savvy social media users having instant access to courtroom footage, audio and other evidence, we are all experiencing these cases in real time, and when a controversy gains attention, the voice of public opinion is louder than ever. Sometimes, verdicts handed down in the press and on social media can truly seal someone's fate.”
“Larry and I are thrilled to be digging into some of the most famous cases. It's going to be a lot of fun sitting side by side with each other and properly fleshing out the broader, more general topics that end up being important. I'm sure Judge Judy would be trembling!”
Larry Dean says, “I'm really looking forward to working with Stacey on this podcast. It's going to be a ton of fun! Stacey's investigative background means she's in the perfect position to detail each story, tell the case and ask the tough questions. And she's just so fun to be around, we're sure to get some good laughs. I'll be trying to work out who really won, and because I'm so out of touch with celebrity culture I should be able to offer a completely objective view. I'm overqualified, but somehow I'm the right judge!”
