SALT LAKE CITY — As the 2024 presidential election approaches, donations to President Joe Biden's campaign are outpacing those to former President Donald Trump's campaign in Utah, despite the state being a Republican-leaning state.
Biden has raised more than $1 million in Utah, compared to about $750,000 for Trump, according to the Federal Election Commission.
But “KSL At Night” host and political consultant Taylor Morgan said this doesn't necessarily indicate how Utahns will vote in November.
“Utah may end up donating more to President Biden than to former President Donald Trump,” he said, “even though Donald Trump will likely win Utah by at least 20 points, maybe more.”
Morgan noted that Biden and his wife visited Utah during the election to raise funds in Park City, Utah.
“Despite the political support for former President Trump in Utah, there is also deep funding to oppose Donald Trump,” he said.
Park City is home to a lot of wealthy Democratic donors, Morgan said.
“I think this is significant and shows that Park City in particular is a very lucrative ATM for Democratic presidential fundraising,” he said. “And it always has been.”
Meanwhile, Trump has yet to reach any beehive states this time around.
