The Northampton County Board of Elections is seeking registered voters who live in Northampton County to serve as poll workers for the general election on Tuesday, November 5th.
Northampton County elections are made possible thanks to residents who work as poll workers. These people do the important work of checking voters in and preparing ballots at the polls. At the end of the night, poll workers deliver the vote count to the county elections official. We depend on these workers to ensure a fair, accurate and legal election.
New poll workers are provided with training prior to the general election and are also compensated for their training time and work on Election Day. Northampton County poll workers can earn between $175 and $200 for working Election Day, depending on the poll worker's assignment and training. Normal work hours on Election Day are from 6:00 AM until the polls close at 8:00 PM. Individuals who bring supplies back to the Government Center will receive additional pay and mileage allowances.
Registered voters interested in becoming a local poll worker can email the Northampton County Board of Elections at election@norcopa.gov or call 610-829-6260.
Pennsylvania election law also allows 17-year-old high school students to be at the polls in certain capacities. Interested 17-year-old high school students should complete this form and return it to their elections office.
The more we all participate, the stronger our democracy will be.
