Gordon Ramsay is lucky to be alive.
The 57-year-old “Hell's Kitchen” host revealed Saturday that he was injured in a “very bad” bicycle accident in Connecticut and was receiving treatment at a hospital.
“I was totally shocked,” he said in a video shared on Instagram and X. “Honestly, I'm blessed to be here.”
In the caption of the post, Ramsay wrote that he was “ok, no broken bones or major injuries” but was “a little bruised and looking like a purple potato.”
In the video, he lifts up his chef's coat to reveal large bruises covering his torso.

Squatters take over Gordon Ramsay's pub:Celebrity chefs try to reclaim it
USA TODAY has reached out to Ramsey's representatives for an update.
The celebrity chef didn't offer many details about the accident, but said he was treated at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London and thanked the “incredible trauma surgeons, doctors and nurses” who treated him.
Ramsay, who said he was “sore” after a “grueling” week, also posted a PSA about the importance of wearing a helmet, telling his followers he wouldn't “be here right now” without it. He also posted before and after photos of himself in the accident, the latter of which showed his damaged helmet.

“You have to wear a helmet,” Ramsey stressed. “It doesn't matter how short the distance is. It doesn't matter how much money the helmet costs, but a helmet is important.”
The Kitchen Nightmares star received a slew of encouraging comments on his Instagram post, with celebrity chef Nick DiGiovanni commenting: “Wow, that's really scary. Glad you're ok.” Other followers were shocked by the extent of Ramsay's bruises. “That's awful,” one commenter wrote, while another added: “Glad you're ok chef.”
Ramsay's message came after Nina Dobrev, 35, announced that she was injured in a bicycle accident last month. On Instagram, the Vampire Diaries star shared photos of herself before and after the accident, the first of which shows her riding an electric bike, and the second of which shows her in the hospital. “How it started and how it is now,” she captioned the post.
