Cyril Ramaphosa was sworn in for a second term as South African President at the Union Buildings.
The theme of the inauguration ceremony was “30 Years of Democracy, Partnership and Growth.”
Chief Justice Raymond Zondo was administered the oath of office at an inauguration ceremony on Wednesday.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this is the President of South Africa,” the Chief Justice said, raising President Ramaphosa's hand.
The South African Parliament has re-elected Cyril Ramaphosa as South African President following a landmark coalition agreement between the ruling African National Congress (ANC) and opposition parties.

The new Government of National Unity will bring together Ramaphosa's ANC, the centre-right Democratic Alliance (DA) and smaller parties.
In his victory speech, President Ramaphosa praised the new coalition government and said voters expected its leaders to “act and work together in the interest of all our people”.
The two men reached the agreement on a day of great political drama, with Parliament meeting late into the night to determine who would hold power in the new government.
Representatives of several presidents and heads of state visited South Africa to attend the inauguration.
Among the leaders in attendance were Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, Eswatini King Mswati III, Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Among those in attendance were President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Hassan, Vice President of Côte d'Ivoire Tiemoko Meiriet Kone, and President of Ghana Nana Akufo.
Who will be in Ramaphosa's government?
President Ramaphosa is due to announce the members of his seventh cabinet in South Africa's government. It is not clear when President Ramaphosa will announce his cabinet.
The DA, IFP, Patriotic Alliance (PA) and several other smaller parties who support Ramaphosa's presidential nomination are hoping the president will reward their own party with the appointment.
Meanwhile, if Ramaphosa wins his first general election in 2019, it will be around four days before he announces his cabinet.

President Ramaphosa speaks during inaugural address
“We have come together to affirm our solemn conviction that this country belongs to us, that we live in it. We will overcome ongoing inequalities and build an equal nation.”
We come to this moment for our country, for the resilience of our democracy, where South Africans have voted to express their aspirations, we say yes, South Africans have spoken, and we accept.
Dipipo does not want to give any political party the opportunity to govern South Africa alone and wants us to work together.
They want a transformed and improved economy. They want a South Africa where they can find a place to live and a loving family.”
“Through their vote, people have expressed their desire for clean water, decent homes to stay warm, functioning and well-maintained roads and street lights, decent health care and education.
I will work with all parties and sectors committed to the development of South Africa. I will be a President for all South Africans and I will work with those in need.”
