When it comes to matters of the heart, Angela Aguilar ignores the noise.
The Mexican singer, who has been garnering attention due to her highly publicized romance with fellow singer Christian Nodal, spoke about the relationship in an interview with Kien magazine published on Monday.
Last week, Aguilar and Nodal confirmed their relationship in an exclusive interview with HOLA!. The revelation came just two weeks after Nodal announced his split from Argentine singer Kazoo.
“People don't need to know the truth about me, because if I explain it, I feel like I'm guilty of something I didn't do,” Aguilar told the outlet in Spanish, “so I rarely defend myself. In fact, I don't think I've ever defended myself.”
She added: “People are free to talk about whatever they want. I know who I am and I know the important people in my life.”

Aguilar, whose father is regional Mexican celebrity Pepe Aguilar, also reflected on how growing up in a celebrity family influenced her decision to go public with her relationship.
“I'm the daughter of Pepe Aguilar and the granddaughter of (Mexican singer) Flor Silvestre. If there's one thing my parents taught me, it's that you have to live your truth and sing your love,” Aguilar said. “I've received a lot of criticism in my life, and my parents lived that way too, so I've always lived a very private life. They've been married for 27 years, and the only thing people know about them is when they appear on the red carpet.”
The “Gotitas Saladas” singer said she doesn't want the public attention to “take away the opportunity to live this stage of my life,” adding that she “never had the opportunity to feel this way, live my dreams and grow like this.”

Less than a month after Nordal announced her split from Kazoo, Aguilar and Nordal opened up about their relationship in an exclusive interview with HOLA! magazine.
“This is not a new relationship, it's a continuation of a story in which life forced us to stop, grow and miss each other,” the singers said in a statement at the time, “because when we broke up, we grew even closer.”
The magazine also published photos of the couple, one of which shows Nodal embracing Aguilar and kissing her neck.
In May, Nodal revealed on social media that he had split from his then-girlfriend, Kazoo. The news came eight months after the couple welcomed their daughter in September 2023.

Shortly after announcing his relationship with Aguilar, Nordal addressed cheating rumors surrounding his former relationship with Kazoo in a lengthy Instagram video.
“There was no infidelity,” Nodal said in Spanish. “Love can go wrong, but right now I'm having a beautiful experience with the woman I love, with a love that took many years to develop into what it is now.”
