For many years, Travis Barker They bravely recounted surviving a shocking and horrific plane crash in 2008, when they traveled with their assistant from Columbia, South Carolina to Los Angeles. Chris Baker,Security guard Charles Che Still and Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein.
A loud noise, similar to a gunshot, was reportedly heard before the plane had completely taken off.
Air traffic controllers said they saw sparks flying from the plane after a tire blew out, and the two pilots decided to abort the takeoff, but the plane still burst into flames.
Barker and Goldstein suffered second-degree burns, and Still and Baker died from their injuries, along with the two pilots.
The Blink-182 drummer nearly had his right leg amputated after the incident, but doctors managed to save it. However, he was hospitalized for 11 weeks and underwent 27 surgeries and skin grafts.
“About 11 of the 30 surgeries I had at the burn center, I would wake up and I would punch the doctors because they cut me open and I would go crazy,” Rogan said on his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience. “I would try to get off the table… I don't think I knew what was going on, but I'd been self-medicating and abusing drugs for so long that they couldn't give me enough to knock me unconscious. I would wake up halfway through the anesthesia.”
Barker reportedly suffered from suicidal thoughts for several years after the attack and developed post-traumatic stress disorder.
