Iran's Jewish community is set to meet with candidates to succeed deceased Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on July 6, the Jewish Committee of Tehran Khirimian Association announced on Telegram on Sunday.
The Jewish community will host the six presidential candidates at the Yousef Abad Synagogue in the Iranian capital.
The meeting, reportedly organised at the suggestion of Jewish Knesset member Dr Homayoun Sameya, will see participants hear the candidates' plans and positions, “especially regarding their approach towards monotheistic religions and religious minorities.”
Who will be Raisi's successor?
The association said it would help select a suitable person to replace Raisi.
Raisi died in May when his helicopter crashed in East Azerbaijan province due to poor visibility in the mountainous area.
Along with Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian and other senior government officials were killed.
Since Raisi's death, First Vice President Mohamed Mokbel has been acting president.
