Justin Timberlake's Recent Arrests Being arrested for DUI was pretty shocking, to say the least. What was even more shocking was that the officer who stopped him claimed to not know who he was. Apparently, the rookie arresting officer is no stranger to controversy. New York Post Reports suggest he's causing a lot of trouble to the wealthy residents of Sag Harbor, New York, simply by doing his job.
Officer Michael Arkinson has only been with the police force for three months, but he's already earned nicknames like “The Sag Harbor Nazi” and, more affectionately, “The Red Headed Brat” for enforcing traffic laws. A man who identified himself as Spencer recounted to police an encounter he had with Officer Arkinson one night. Daily Mail:
Spencer, a writer from Shelter Island, was one of several drivers who had an unpleasant encounter with Arkinson when he made an abrupt U-turn recently while looking for a parking space before dinner with friends in Sag Harbor.
Arkinson saw him turn and pounced.
“I was surprised he pulled me over,” he said.
“It was the offseason, there was nobody around. It was a stupid thing to do. I felt like they just called me in to do it.”
Arkinson's horrible behavior. Spencer was just looking for a parking spot to make it to her dinner date. A little illegal U-turn never hurt anyone. Spencer says she had another run-in with Officer Arkinson after being pulled over for using her cell phone while driving. “I explained that I was on speaker and I was just holding my phone, but they said I should have used Bluetooth,” Spencer said. Daily MailSpencer goes on to offer a shocking example of elitist logic: “I thought he was going to give me a break. I was driving under 25 miles per hour trying to get to the Y in East Hampton.” He was going slower than the speed limit, so he should be OK, right? Right?
Spencer said his day was ruined when he was fined $125 and his plans for a swim and lunch were interrupted. He defended Timberlake, saying he believes he was “a victim of Sag Harbor police excesses.”
Other Sag Harbor residents were less critical of Arkinson. Daily Mail They remembered Arkinson from his days as a traffic cop. They never encountered him, but they knew where the police were parked around town waiting to pick up someone. They echoed Arkinson's failure to recognize Timberlake. “If that's not your taste in music, how do you know?” they said.
To be honest, this Arkinson doesn't seem like a bad person, it's just that Sag Harbor seems to be full of wealthy, privileged people who are shocked and appalled that their wealth and status has not affected at least one of the cops and turned a blind eye.
