The Tennessee Attorney General's office has turned over the investigation into the failed foreclosure attempt on Elvis Presley's Graceland estate to federal investigators, the office said in a statement.
“The Tennessee Attorney General's Office investigated the Graceland incident, but it quickly became clear this is a matter best suited for federal law enforcement. We have confidence in our federal partners and are confident they will handle this matter appropriately,” said Amy Lannom-Wilhite, communications director for Tennessee Attorney General John Scurmetti.
In May, Elvis Presley's granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, filed a lawsuit against Nowsunny Investments, which claims to hold title to the property.
According to court documents, Nowsani alleged that Lisa Marie Presley, who died in 2023, mortgaged her estate to secure a $3.8 million loan but failed to repay it.
Keough filed suit alleging fraud and trying to protect the property from foreclosure, and a Shelby County Chancery Court judge agreed and blocked the sale, causing Nausani to drop his foreclosure attempt.
At the time, Scurmetti said the matter was under investigation for possible fraud.
The Justice Department declined to comment.
