OAKLAND – Firefighters were battling a three-alarm blaze at a roofing supply company in West Oakland Wednesday night.
The fire was reported at Pacific Supply in the 1700 block of 24th Street around 10:15 p.m., said Oakland Fire Department spokesman Michael Hunt.
Hunt said the fire started on the sidewalk and spread to the building.
“Most of the fires have been in structures and not in yards where timber and other equipment is stored,” Mr Hunt said.
As of midnight, the fire had been contained but was still not under control, Hunt said.
“Firefighters will be there throughout the night fighting the fire and preventing any new fires from starting,” Hunt said.
No injuries have been reported and the fire is not threatening to affect adjacent properties.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
