Jacksonville, Florida – Jacksonville continues to grow as a hotbed of innovative technology companies, including Duos Technology Group, led by CEO Chuck Ferry.
Ferry will appear on “This Week in Jacksonville: Business Edition” with Doug Recker, who was just named president of Duos Edge.
Duos Tech has about 75 employees and is headquartered in Jacksonville, Ferry said.

“We're now specializing in a cutting edge technology that's basically called the Rail Car Inspection Portal,” Ferry said. “What the Rail Car Inspection Portal does is basically a large rail car garage.”
The product, which sits on top of the tracks, is equipped with machine-vision cameras, lighting lasers and speed sensors to take pictures of the top and bottom of trains traveling at speeds of more than 70 mph and prepare those images for display on a computer screen, Ferry said.
Safety is key.
“We also apply machine vision and artificial intelligence to automatically detect mechanical defects, which railroads use to repair their cars. We have 10 patents on this. All of the equipment is developed in Jacksonville by our own engineers and developers. This has become our primary core business.”
Part of the growth in the industry is where Recker comes in.
“I've lived in Jacksonville for about 23 years and started three businesses here,” Recker said. “We have a large colocation data center here called ColoFive, and we've been very successful in this city in terms of IT draw. And the talent we have here… that's one of the main reasons I'm staying here.”
Ferry and Recker will discuss innovative technology, opportunities for expansion and how the workforce is adapting to the needs of the industry.
“Then I started another company called Edge Presence, which I sold last year and am starting up again under Chuck,” Recker said.
