It's been a week of shocking revelations, celebrity snubs, and undoubtedly heartache for Meghan Markle, as her father once again exposed his family's private suffering for all to see. In an incredibly candid interview with British media, Thomas, who turns 80 this month, spoke about his grief over Meghan, 42, and her estrangement from Prince Harry, and his deep regret that he never got to meet his grandchildren.
He also compared himself to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibeth's other grandfather, King Charles, saying neither deserved to be “treated the way we were” by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Now that his revelations have really sunk in with the royal couple, a source said: got it! Meghan said she felt “under attack” again, particularly from her father, with whom she once had a close relationship.
“It's been a difficult week for Meghan and she feels under constant attack,” they claimed. “The revelations about private conversations between her and her father are hard on her as she thought she had moved on from them.
“They've always been really close so things have happened and she's cut him out of her life but it still makes her incredibly sad that they're no longer on speaking terms. Before she met Harry she had a really good relationship with her father but that's all changed.”
Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, and Thomas divorced when she was six years old, but the former Suits actress has previously shared many fond memories of spending time with her father. In 2013, she said: Esquire I wrote about her photoshoot for the magazine. Married with children“The Live-Action Sitcom'' on which Thomas worked as lighting and cinematographer.
“For 10 years, every day after school, Married with children“It's a really weird, strange place to grow up as a girl in a Catholic school uniform,” she said.
But their relationships are very different now, with Thomas saying he is yet to meet his daughter's husband or her children. Meanwhile, five-year-old Prince Archie is thought to have only met his grandfather King Charles a few times, and three-year-old Princess Lilibeth only met him once during the royal's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in summer 2022.
Meghan and Thomas' relationship has grown increasingly strained over the years, but was damaged beyond repair when Thomas fabricated paparazzi photos ahead of her wedding to Harry, 39, in 2018.
In his latest revealing interview, Thomas said it was odd that Prince Harry hadn't suggested they meet before their big day, despite him having the “funds to fly around the world.”
A source said Meghan has felt increasingly lonely due to the estrangement. “She doesn't speak to any of her family apart from her mum anymore and has no interaction with Harry's family so it's understandable that she feels quite lonely at times. She was always very close to her father and misses not being able to speak to him anymore. He always gave her good advice, but Meghan knows there's no going back.”
Shortly before Thomas' interview was published, Meghan's brother-in-law, Prince William, was spotted rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty Taylor Swift on the opening night of her London Hellas Tour concert.
of Shake It Off Singer Jamie McGregor posted a smiling backstage photo of Prince William, 42, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince George, 10, along with her NFL boyfriend, Travis Kelsey. “Happy birthday M8! A great start to the London show,” she captioned the photo, which was later reposted by Prince Charles and Duchess of Cambridge's official X account (formerly Twitter).
It has been reported that Taylor had previously “ignored” Meghan by turning down an invitation to appear on her podcast, Archetype, and sources claim that Meghan would be “hurt” to see what Prince William and Princess Taylor have to say publicly.
“It seems like more and more people in Hollywood want to side with the royals, and that's hurting her,” the source said. “It must have been hard for her when she saw Taylor Swift posing with Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte over the weekend.”
“Taylor has ignored her before and Meghan has already lost friends in the process. She feels it's a harsh price to pay.”
Despite strained relationships with Thomas, the king, William and Kate Middleton, our source says Meghan still has a strong group of friends surrounding her, most of whom live near the couple's Montecito, California home.
She also said that she had learned the hard way who she could and could not trust, but that she was not one to easily forgive fools.
“Meghan has lots of friends outside of Doria that she can rely on and she feels so happy about that,” they said. “She knows that some people are friends with her for the wrong reasons, so she's glad she has a trusted pal.”
“But my heart will always aches for all the people she has lost. She would have wanted more of a family than just herself, Harry, Doria and her children.”
