Having an online presence on social media has become a mark of success for influencers and celebrities. With just a few clicks, they can promote products and brands to millions of followers, often in exchange for huge amounts of money. But who are the top earners on Instagram, those with the most followers (Kylie Jenner) and those with much smaller followings (Mark Wahlberg)? We take a closer look at the highest earning Instagram celebrities in 2024.
Instagram, the photo- and video-sharing social media platform, has become a lucrative field for celebrities, with some stars, such as international soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo, earning up to $3.2 million per sponsored post on his Instagram account, according to Hopper HQ, a company that specializes in social media management.
But who are the highest-earning celebrities on Instagram overall? To compile the list, the Bored Panda team used Hopper IQ data on the 850 most-followed American celebrities on Instagram. They analyzed 90,000 posts containing the words “paid partnership” and hashtags like #ad and #sponsored between April 2023 and March 2024 to create a ranking that estimates the 20 highest-earning celebrities on Instagram.

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart tops the list of highest-earning celebrities on Instagram. He made an astounding $28.1 million last year, thanks to 26 sponsored posts. With around 180 million followers, Kevin Hart regularly promotes his own brands, including Gran Collamino Tequila, Vita Hustle, and vegan restaurant Hart House.
But Kevin Hart isn't the only one using Instagram to boost his income: Actor Mark Wahlberg comes in at number four on the list, earning an estimated $15.5 million from 88 sponsored posts last year. Though he has significantly fewer followers than Kevin Hart (30.3 million vs. 180 million), the actor has been able to diversify his income streams.
Of course, no ranking of Instagram's highest-earning celebrities would be complete without mentioning the Kardashian-Jenner clan. Kylie Jenner tops the list with $16.8 million, beating out her half-sister Khloe Kardashian ($16.78 million) in second place. Kendall Jenner comes in at fifth place ($12.4 million), well ahead of Kim Kardashian ($4.4 million at 12th place) and her mother, Kris Jenner ($1.99 million at 20th place).
These women all have large communities of followers: Kendall Jenner has 293 million, Kim Kardashian has 362 million, and Kris Jenner has 52.3 million. The youngest of the group, Kylie Jenner, has 399 million and Khloe Kardashian has 300 million followers.
Basketball player Stephen Curry is the highest-paid athlete, ranking 9th overall with $7.5 million, followed by the world's other two stars, LeBron James at 11th with $6 million and Shaquille O'Neal at $3.5 million.
Among singers and musicians, Jennifer Lopez tops the list with an estimated $9.1 million (8th overall), followed by Cardi B ($6 million) and DJ Khaled ($3.4 million). Pop phenom Taylor Swift isn't on the list, despite her immense wealth and the success of her record-breaking Hellas Tour, likely because her billions of dollars come from music, not sponsored social media posts.
