MID-MICHIGAN (WJRT) – Rite Aid's withdrawal from the Mid-Michigan retail and pharmacy market continued Friday, adding six more stores to the list of closures across the region.
The six stores closing in Mid-Michigan are among 30 included in the latest list of store closures in Michigan and Ohio. The Mid-Michigan stores are:

No date for the closing and liquidation sale has been announced.
The impending store closures announced Friday bring the total number of stores Rite Aid plans to close in Mid-Michigan over the past two weeks to 17. The company announced last week it would close the following stores:
- G4033 Fenton Road, Bristol Road, Burton.
- at 4519 Litchfield Road at Genesee Road in Genesee Township.

Going-out sales are happening at most of the Rite Aid stores that were added to the closure list last week, and are scheduled to close by the end of July.
Rite Aid filed for bankruptcy in October 2023 amid declining sales and looming financial judgments related to ongoing litigation over the nationwide opioid crisis.
The U.S. Department of Justice filed a lawsuit alleging that Rite Aid knowingly filled prescriptions for counterfeit or invalid opioid painkillers despite “red flags” that warned pharmacists that they were inappropriate.
Once the store closures are complete, Rite Aid will be left with about 150 stores in Michigan and fewer than 2,000 nationwide.
