The presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump took place 11 days ago, but most late-night TV hosts have not appeared on it since.
Tonight was Stephen Colbert's first opportunity to discuss the debate, and he was candid about it.
Late Show The host said he believes Joe Biden has been a great and successful president.
“So should he stay? Should he go? Who should I endorse? I don't know what's going on in Joe Biden's mind. Apparently me and Joe Biden have something in common,” he said.
Colbert said during the 90-minute CNN debate that Biden's presidential rival, former President Donald Trump, “has proven once again that he is clearly a monster.”
“Before the debate, all Joe had to do was ease people's fears that he was too old. But Biden's trembling allowed Trump to get away with 90 minutes of lies, racism and the odd golfing brag. So a lot of people are saying this was the worst debate performance of all time, but I don't think that's fair. I think Biden debated as well as Abraham Lincoln, if you dig into it now,” he joked.

After the debate, Colbert's friend and former colleague Jon Stewart, the only late-night TV host (albeit one night a week), gave a monologue. The Daily Show The host joked that both Biden and Trump should use performance-enhancing drugs.
“If performance-enhancing drugs improve their clarity, their problem-solving abilities and, in one candidate's case, their integrity, their moral character and their malignant narcissism, then let's not take the suppositories,” he joked.
