- Whoopi Goldberg said she wasn't bothered by the recent debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
- “I have poop days all the time. I step in more poop than you can imagine,” she said Monday.
- Goldberg said people should give Biden a chance and wait for the next debate with Trump.
President Joe Biden's missteps and gaffes may have prompted calls for him to withdraw from the race, but Whoopi Goldberg says she still supports the 81-year-old president.
“I don't care if he shits his pants or can't form a sentence,” the co-host of ABC's “The View” said on Monday's episode. “If he proves he can't do the job, I'll say, 'All right, it's time for you to go.'”
Goldberg, 68, said people should give Biden another chance despite his disappointing performance in the June 27 presidential debate with former President Donald Trump.
“I always have poop-covered days. I step in more poop than you can imagine. Now, I don't rule the world, but I don't know anyone who hasn't stepped in it at least once,” Goldberg added.
But Goldberg's failure in the second debate appears to have been the tipping point for her, stating that she would withdraw her support if Biden falters again. The next Trump-Biden debate is scheduled for September 10.
“So I'm just saying, yeah, there are two debates, and if he doesn't do what he needs to do in the second debate, I'm going to join the people who are saying get him kicked out,” Goldberg continued.
Biden, the leading Democratic candidate, has faced growing calls to resign since last month's presidential debate, but he has repeatedly ignored concerns about his age and mental health.
Biden sent a letter to Democratic lawmakers on Monday reiterating his intention to continue the campaign.
“The question of how to proceed from now has been debated for well over a week now, and it's time to end it,” Biden wrote. “Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the agenda ahead will only help Trump and hurt us.”
“The time has come to unite, move forward as a united party and defeat Donald Trump,” the letter continued.
Representatives for Biden did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by BI outside of regular business hours.
