President Joe Biden is losing support in Hollywood as a growing number of Hollywood celebrities call for him to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.
Calls for Biden to step down have grown exponentially following what many considered a weak performance in the first presidential debate, leading many to suggest he should be replaced by another candidate, with some polling data even suggesting Vice President Kamala Harris could take on former President Donald Trump.
These are the latest celebrities to call for Biden to step down ahead of the November election:
George Clooney
Actor George Clooney was perhaps the biggest celebrity to call on Biden to retire, writing in an op-ed that Biden could not win the race against time and is no longer “Joe Biden of 2020.”
The op-ed came just a month after Clooney hosted a fundraiser for the Biden campaign that was attended by several celebrities, including actress Julia Roberts and actor Jack Black, and raised $28 million.
Rob Reiner
Director of iconic films and more Princess Bride and When Harry Met Sally He also suggested Biden step down, saying Clooney “expressed what a lot of us are saying.” Reiner, a frequent critic of Trump, said the election put “democracy facing an existential threat” and that the Democratic Party needed “someone younger who can fight back.”
Reiner said Monday that Biden should make public appearances similar to his own speeches. He also argued that the Democratic Party had “a lot of talent,” likely referring to Biden's successor.
Earlier this year, Douglas was one of several actors to play the president, appearing in a video providing advice for the president's State of the Union address.
Jon Favreau
The co-organizers of PodSave AmericaGeorge Clooney, a former aide to former President Barack Obama, said he wasn't surprised when Clooney said at a fundraiser that Biden was different to the Biden he was in the debates, noting that he attended Clooney's fundraiser and saw it for himself, adding that Clooney was “absolutely right” and that everyone else at the fundraiser thought the same.
Other prominent figures, including author Stephen King, have also said in recent days that Biden should step aside. X owner Elon Musk has stepped up his criticism of Biden but has said he will not donate to Biden or Trump's campaigns.

Many Democrats, including Reps. Pat Ryan (D-N.Y.), Adam Smith (D-Wash.) and Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas), have also called on Biden to step down as the Democratic presidential nominee.
Despite these growing calls, Biden has insisted he will not resign, saying in a television appearance on Monday that he is “very frustrated that the elites have been asking me to resign” and suggested that Democrats concerned about him “challenge me” at the Democratic National Convention.
