MSNBC host Joy Reid has become a thorn in Amber Rose's side.
Rose, a former reality TV star, pushed back against criticism of Reid, who spoke directly to a black audience during a speech on the opening day of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday and called Rose “racially ambiguous.”
“I don't want to say she's black because she says she's not black, so I don't want to say this black woman,” Reed said, referring to Rose's repeated references over the years to her calling herself both white and black.
“This woman is saying that whatever race she claims to be, she's not black, yet the (Republican National Committee) brought in someone whose entire career is based in black culture.”

Reid added: “I don't know anyone who takes their political cues from Amber Rose, but if you are, you might want to do your own research as well, because she may not have done her research thoroughly.”
“Hi @JoyAnnReid. I never said I'm not black, I only said I identify as mixed race. I'm not dissing my white father to reassure you. Stop being a racist. Your president has incited enough racism against all of us,” Rose wrote in a post to X on Tuesday.
USA TODAY has reached out to MSNBC representatives for comment.
Rhodes addressed race in her convention speech, saying, “Donald Trump and his supporters don't care if you're black or white, gay or straight. It's all about love. And I realized at that moment that these are my people and this is where I belong.”
Rose is a rapper and model who has appeared in a number of reality TV shows, including RuPaul's Drag Race, Dancing with the Stars, and America's Next Top Model, and also hosted her own talk show, The Amber Rose Show, which aired for one season in 2016.

Last week, Rose announced he would be in Milwaukee to speak at the Republican National Convention.
“It's true! I will be speaking at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee #MAGA,” Rose posted on X. The 40-year-old mother of rapper Wiz Khalifa's son, Sebastian “Bash” Taylor, was included on the list of speakers by convention organizers.
Rose, who was known for her longtime relationship with Kanye West, voiced her support for Trump in a video earlier this year in which she wore a Trump supporter's distinctive red “Make America Great Again” hat.
According to a post on the Oxygen TV network's official website, Rose previously appeared in the 2015 documentary “Right Girls,” in which she spoke about her own experiences with colorism.
“My family feels like we're better and superior to African-Americans because, 'we're Creole,' and 'we have the culture,' and I've been battling that for most of my life,” she told Oxygen in the documentary.
