Beautiful and unique fashion show, The world's largest Down Syndrome fundraising event will feature Hunger Games actress Sofia Sanchez, award-winning film and television actor John C. McGinley, beloved actress Caterina Scorsone from ABC's longest running primetime television drama, Grey's Anatomy, along with co-stars Alexis Floyd, Anthony Hill, Nico Terho, model and actress Amanda Booth, actress and model Shelley Hennig and award-winning local NBC anchor Kim Christiansen as hosts.Number This year, the awards event Saturday, November 16 in Sheraton Denver Downtown HotelProceeds support GLOBAL's life-saving, transformative research and healthcare.
At this event Zaya Beer, The next Global Ambassador, and Sofia Sanchez Ambassador Zaya will receive GLOBAL's Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award. Zaya is a vibrant 5-year-old girl who lives in Cabo, Mexico with her mother, father, and 3-year-old brother Ziggy. After overcoming serious health challenges as a toddler, Zaya has grown into a dynamic girl with a passion for dance and zest for life. She loves spending time with her family, especially her brother, where they enjoy sunset walks, horseback riding, and yoga together. Ambassador Zaya and her family will work closely with GLOBAL to raise both funds and awareness to extend the lives and improve the health of children and adults with Down Syndrome.
Ukrainian-American actress, model, author and self-advocate Sofia Sanchez has been awarded Global's Highest Achievement Award. Sofia Sanchez began her career seven years ago with the viral video “Down Syndrome Is Not Scary” and made her acting debut in the TV series “Switched at Birth” in 2015. In summer 2023, Sofia appeared at the premiere of the movie “Barbie” dressed as the first Barbie with Down Syndrome and was named to the best-dressed list of major news channels. In November 2023, Sofia won her first leading role as Wovvie in the movie “The Hunger Games 2: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes”. Also, in April of this year, she became the youngest person with Down Syndrome to take the stage and give a TEDx talk about “The Power of Courage”.
