GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A Gwinnett County yard so overgrown it almost got its owner arrested has been removed thanks to Channel 2 Action News viewers.
Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson I reported about my house last week. after neighbors said they were tired of blight in their neighborhood.
Now a man from Braselton has shown up and single-handedly cleaned out the entire yard in hopes of keeping the homeowners here out of jail.
An abandoned Gwinnett County garden was an eyesore for neighbors last week. Now, for the first time in years, I can actually see grass.
“When I first came here, it was a jungle,” said Matt Robbins, owner of Better Cuts in Braselton.
“It took us all day to get to where we are now,” Robbins told Johnson.
Robbins said she had never met the 59-year-old homeowner, who had been neglected in his home for years. But it doesn't matter.
“I don't know what her situation is. I just want you to do a good deed and come help her,” Robbins said.

After Mr. Robbins saw Mr. Johnson's report last week, he drove an hour to his home on Roxborough Trail in unincorporated Norcross and began work on his own.
“I started eating weeds and started pulling out some of this big debris,” Robbins said.
His goal is to help his neighbors with their eyesores and help strangers avoid getting arrested.
“No one should have to go to jail for something like this,” Robbins said.
The woman said she had come to the front door but never opened it.
Law enforcement officials said she ignored numerous citations and court appearances for at least five years.
“As long as I can solve this problem for her and take some of the burden off her and help her morally,” Robbins said.
Even if she doesn't say thank you, there are many people in the community who do.
“We had a few people stop by and thank us,” Robbins said.
Mr. Johnson contacted law enforcement after the cleanup.
A spokesperson said the bench warrant is still active due to the homeowner's repeated failures to appear in court.
