Dangote Refinery has received its fourth shipment of 1 million barrels of Bonny light crude oil supplied by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Dangote Petroleum Refining Company expressed hope that the fifth shipment would be made soon.
“Preparations for the start of production at the Dangote refinery are in full swing. The petrochemical company has received its fourth crude oil shipment of 1 million barrels of Bonny light crude oil from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPCL), and the fifth We expect the next shipment of crude oil to arrive soon,” the company said.
“This latest 1 million barrels of crude oil represents the fourth shipment of 6 million barrels of crude oil expected to be delivered to the Dangote facility by the world's largest single-train refinery.”
Dangote said once the total of six million barrels is delivered, the refinery will begin producing diesel, aviation fuel, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and premium motor spirit (PMS).
In a statement, the Managing Director of Dangote Port Operations, Mr. Akin Omole, told journalists at Dangote Pier, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State that the refinery is scheduled to ship approximately 4 million units of crude oil by the end of 2023. He said he expected the remaining 2 million units to be shipped as crude oil. Scheduled for early January 2024.
On December 8, 2023, Dangote announced that it received its first 1 million barrels of Agbami crude oil grade from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO).
“This supply will facilitate the refinery's initial commissioning, allowing it to produce diesel, aviation fuel and LPG, before progressing to premium motor spirit (PMS) production,” the company explained.
Additionally, on December 20, 2023, the refinery received second stage crude feedstock from NNPC Limited.
Finally, on December 29, 2023, Dangote received its third shipment of 1 million barrels of crude oil feedstock.
