former indian cricketer Virender SehwagKnown for his sharp wit and humor both on and off the cricket field, he has once again made headlines for his outspoken comments on the Club Prairie Podcast.During a casual exchange with a former Australian cricketer adam gilchristSefag made a joking comment that sparked mixed reactions among fans and critics.
Mr Sehwag's remarks were in response to a question raised by Mr Gilchrist regarding the participation of Indian cricketers in the international T20 league.
“Do you think we will ever see Indian players playing in other T20 leagues?” Gilchrist asked.
Sefag's response was typical, right off the bat, with a bit of playful hyperbole: “No, there's no need for that. We're rich. We don't go to poor countries for other leagues.” quipped.
Sefag also recalled an episode in which he turned down an offer from the Big Bash League because the amount was too low.
“I still remember when I was left out of the Indian team and I was playing.” IPL. Then he got an offer from BBL to participate in the Big Bash, and when he asked how much it would cost, he was told $100,000.
“I said I could use the money for a holiday, but last night's bill was even more than that,” the 45-year-old quipped.
Meanwhile, with the T20 World Cup just around the corner, Sehwag is rooting for youngster Yashasvi Jaiswal and said he is almost certain to board a flight to the US and West Indies.
Sehwag also said Jaiswal should not think too much about comparisons with India's legendary Sachin Tendulkar.
“Look, I too was being compared to Sachin Tendulkar in my early days. But the sooner you get that out of your head, the better.” Yashasvi Jaiswal said about being compared to me. I don't think you think about it too much. You can't perform like Tendulkar. You know your game best, so work on it. Focus on that,” Sehwag told Cricbuzz.
“I don't believe in comparisons. When I'm compared, I've changed my stance and the way I play a little bit so people no longer say I look or bat like Tendulkar. The tag of comparison doesn't come with that. It comes with immense pressure. I have high expectations for his son. He knows that if he doesn't work hard, he might have to go back soon. He will get back in shape. I believe his ticket and visa for the World Cup have been confirmed,” Sefag further said.
