Some of the most beloved stars of the 1980s have barely aged in the past 40 years and look almost exactly the same as they did 40 years ago.
Everyone gets older, it's a fact of life. But we don't all age in the same way, some of us try to prevent it, some of us try to accept it, and some of us don't really worry about it all that much.
Some people are envied by many. This Hollywood star has found a way to age like fine wine.
In particular, some stars who showed fresh faces on our screens in the 1980s when they were just starting their careers still manage to look just as fresh today.
It could be genetic, it could be with the help of cosmetic surgery, or it could be that they're drinking the (very delicious) fountain of youth.
What we can say is that some famous faces from the 1980s have kept their looks, if not down to the shoulder pads, and look just as great now as they did in the 1980s…
Rob Lowe, 60 years old
Rob Lowe first rose to fame in 1985 with the release of the film St. Elmo's Fire, and his appearance as Chris Trager on Parks and Recreation has earned him a growing following among younger generations. The star is surprisingly well-preserved, and he turned 60 earlier this year.
Rob credits his youthful skin to sleep, the Adkins diet, and 33 years of sobriety.
On his podcast, literally! Along with Rob Lowe, the actor said, “I haven't had a drink in 33 years.” It's so big that it can't be recovered. ”
She added: “When you think about calories and bloating, you're probably lacking.” It just adds up. very helpful. ”
Patrick Stewart, 83 years old
When the actor reprized his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek, fans were surprised to see that Sir Patrick Stewart looked much the same as he did in the 1980s.
On The Graham Norton Show in 2017, he credited his consistent appearance to “clean thinking.”
And he said, “I was born with this disease. Thank you to my father and mother. They gave me great skin and this physique!”
Kim Wilde, 63 years old
Kim Wilde has just announced a huge UK tour and fans were surprised to see her looking incredibly old. A few years ago, the Kids in America hitmaker humbly spoke about aging with her fans.
“I think the audience has grown with me, so there's a sense that we're all in this together and there's joy in that. I love singing the hits and it brings a lot of happiness to the audience.” I love the way they bring and I love how generous they are to me.
“They know I'm 61 years old – nobody's faking anything. They give me warts and everything.
Tom Cruise, 61 years old
It's no exaggeration to say that Tom Cruise, who first rose to fame in the 1983 film Risky Business and the 1986 action film Top Gun, has aged astonishingly over the past 40 years.
Asked in 2012 if she had had plastic surgery, Cruise told Playboy, “I haven't and I never will.”
According to Men's Health, the actor credits his very active lifestyle to his looks. “Sea kayaking, caving…fencing, treadmilling, weight training…rock climbing, hiking…jogging…so many different activities,” he said.
Demi Moore, 61 years old
Demi Moore first rose to fame on General Hospital in the early '80s. The She's a Star is currently 61 years old, but she still looks ageless in the stunning snaps she regularly posts on social media, wearing tiny bikinis.
Speaking on the podcast “Let's Talk Off Camera,” the actress commented on her appearance, saying, “My skin is evolving and has its own program.”
“I have a friend who used to say, 'Oh, this skin is saggy.' Of course, my arrogance was like, 'Yeah…'” It had nothing to do with me. Now it occurred to her what she was talking about. ”
The star also “100% agreed” that women her age feel younger thanks to diet, exercise, modern medicine and fitness habits.
Meryl Streep, 74 years old
Fans have claimed on several occasions that Meryl Streep hasn't aged a day in 40 years and that she still looks the same as she did in the 80's movie Sophie's Choice.
Meryl talked about her youthful appearance and said she never touches her face to avoid spreading germs from her hands to her skin.
In 2010, she also said that she would never resort to plastic surgery. “It's different for each person.'' I can understand the frustration that comes with aging, especially for women, but I think people look strange when their faces are frozen. ”
Eddie Murphy, 63 years old
Eddie Murphy, 63, is another Hollywood heavyweight who hardly seems to age, no matter how many years pass.
On an episode of Apple TV+'s The Oprah Conversation, the star said she feels better than ever now that she's in her 60s.
“I'm very optimistic and feel very comfortable with Eddie,” he said, adding, “I've always been comfortable in my own skin, but not now.”
Bruce Willis, 69 years old
Bruce Willis is still pretty much the same star he was when he starred in the 1980s Die Hard movie series. Before Bruce Willis' dementia diagnosis was revealed to the world in 2023, the star spoke out about aging.
In 2013, Starr told Everything Zoomer: It's perfectly fine at this age. From an intellectual standpoint, I know I'm old.
“I see myself getting older. But I still don't feel old. I take care of myself most of the time and try to eat well. ”
Vanessa Williams, 61 years old
Vanessa Williams, who was crowned Miss America in 1984, is one of those celebrities who barely ages, no matter how many years pass. The star appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show in 2023, where she said she is much more relaxed as she gets older.
“When I became Miss America at the age of 20, my life changed forever, but it also taught me the most life lessons and inspired me,” Vanessa said.
Furthermore, she added: “[At 60]I don't beat myself up like I did in my 20s and 30s. I have to do this, I have to be like this, and I don't beat myself up like I did in my 20s and 30s. I have to please.”
“There's a sense of contentment and peace that comes with getting older, and I embrace and love that.”
