Robert F. Kennedy Jr. fired back at former President Trump's “largely incoherent” rant targeting independent presidential candidates on Friday night's TruthSocial.
“When a frightened man takes to social media, he runs the risk of verbal abuse that makes him appear unfazed,” Kennedy said on social media on Saturday. post “President Trump's tirade against me is a largely incoherent barrage of wild and inaccurate assertions that are best resolved within the American tradition of presidential debate.”
Kennedy's rebuttal comes as Trump went after independent White House candidates in a series of TruthSocial posts published Friday. The former president claimed that independent candidates were thrown into the field to support President Biden, and that running mate Nicole Shanahan was not a full-fledged running mate.
Kennedy praised Trump as a debater, but said there was no need to “panic” about exchanging ideas from the podium.
“President Trump, who has proven to be the most accomplished debater in modern American political history, should not panic to meet me on that stage,” Kennedy said.
In a hypothetical debate, Mr. Kennedy said he would go after Mr. Trump for expressing support for funding, debt and a path to help Ukraine with its failure to clear the “swamp.”
“He promised to end the war in Ukraine and then conspired with Chairman Johnson and President Biden to fund it,” the independent candidate said. “He let big pharmaceutical companies and their corrupt bureaucrats treat him poorly as president. He promised to cut the deficit and ran up the largest debt in history. He made the government a business out of business.” He promised to drain the swamp, then filled his administration with swamp creatures. He promised to protect our rights. They destroyed the Constitution.”
“Instead of dropping poison bombs from the safety of his bunker, let's listen to President Trump mano-a-mano defend his record to me with respectful and witty arguments,” he said.
Mr. Kennedy has consistently polled in favor of both Mr. Trump and President Biden, and a recent poll assuming a three-person matchup showed Mr. Kennedy's approval rating at 7.7%. .
