Gujaratis are very welcoming: Manvendra Singh Gohil
Gujarat is a unique state and there are many things I love about living here. Geographically, it is diverse, with deserts, long coastlines, lakes, forests, and rivers. When it comes to development, we are far ahead compared to most states, including agriculture, industry, and infrastructure. It is a culturally rich state and its unique festivals attract attention from all over the world. Gujarat also has many delicious vegetarian dishes. I'm proud of our rich heritage. Gujaratis are also one of the most welcoming and tolerant communities anywhere. All those who came here to settle, whether Parsis, Siddis or others, were warmly welcomed.
Gujarat has given me great opportunities to grow: Abhay Mangaldas
Gujarat is special to me as it has a strong connection with my heritage, especially Ahmedabad. Born and brought up in Gujarat and having lived here for many years, I have always felt a sense of duty to contribute to nation-building in my work, especially in the management and dissemination of heritage, design and education. That “can do” ecosystem has given me great opportunities to grow. Gujarat is my Karmabhoomi.
Gujarat helped me find my creative self: Digvijay Singh
I moved from Uttarakhand to Gujarat in 1999-2000. It was my first time leaving home, so it was a completely new place for me. The transition from a state with minus-degree temperatures to living in a place with 40 degrees Celsius was not easy. Gujarat has given me a lot. My education started here. I studied Fine Arts at his MSU Baroda and later completed my postgraduate studies at the National Institute of Design, Pardi. Gujarat taught me creativity and how to let go of inhibitions. There are many creative schools and institutes here, as well as great teachers and guides. So, from my time as a student to sharing my experiences here over the past 24 years, I think I have a beautiful give-and-take relationship with the nation.
Gujarat's vibrant culture captures my heart: Sonal Ambani
Ah, Gujarat, the land of bright colors,
Your warmth and love permeate my heart.
The kindness of your people, the pleasant balm,
Hug me with your open palms.
Your legacy, a tapestry so magnificent,
The temples and forts are a magnificent sight.
Your art and culture over time,
Inspires my soul and lifts my spirits.
Your cooking, a symphony of bold flavors.
Dokra, fafda, stories yet to be told.
Each dish is a treasure, a taste of heaven,
A culinary journey, the taste of leaven.
Gujarat, you captured my heart and soul,
Your beauty and grace, your eternal sacrifice.
In your embrace I find peace,
A love that grows forever.
Proud to be a part of Gujarat's cultural heritage: Umang Husee Singh
The Husisingh family has been deeply involved in the history of Gujarat and its cultural heritage, building temples, educational institutions, civil hospitals, art centers and other social facilities. This legacy is a great responsibility, and I am proud to have inherited it and humbled to continue to serve. I am a proud Gujarati and a patriotic Indian.
Gujarat is my Mathrubhoomi and Karmabhoomi: Anil Lelia
I was born in Surat and attended MSU to pursue fine arts. I had set my sights on getting a job in advertising in Mumbai, but fate had other plans. I used to visit Ahmedabad for work but never left. That became my Karmabhoomi and I continued to stay connected with Gujarat. Thanks to Gujarat, I was able to connect and interact with international artists and even invite them to exhibit their work here. I believe it is Gujarat, Mani Ganu Arpu and now my turn to give back. I hope that my efforts and art collection will help ensure that we have an internationally reputed Indian Portrait Museum in the state.
