I Found Light Against All Odds provides resources and opportunities for at-risk local youth. Berkshire HorseWorks Inc., a 501(c)(3) in Richmond, has been providing Egala Model Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy, Equine-Assisted Learning, Equine-Assisted Team Building, and other equine therapeutic and recreational activities for 10 years. and secured a $7,500 grant from the United States. The Feigenbaum Foundation has decided to purchase a new trailer for the “BHW Goes Mobile” initiative. This trailer allows BHW to move outside of facilities to schools, residential treatment centers, assisted living facilities, community events, and other “homebound” populations who would benefit from this measure but do not have access to it. Capacity can be expanded by transporting treatment groups to Financial or physical limitations.
Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, BHW recently expanded into education with the introduction of the Horsepower Reading and Mathematics curriculum. All programs for children, families, and people at risk for mental health, behavioral, and academic issues are supported by direct payments from grants, donations, and recreational activities such as corporate team building and trail riding lessons. Five Easthampton businesses have won business grants as part of the city's 2023 Business Census launched earlier this year. The five winners were randomly selected from among the 66 survey respondents.
Awards include $500 business grants to Winners Beautiful Gardens, Jude Ribisi, Klitusscope Films, and Staying in Balance Acupuncture.
Yarn Dragon's Basket received a $1,000 business grant.
This census was made possible through Easthampton's participation in the National League of Cities' Urban Inclusive Entrepreneurship Program. This program is his fourth participation. The Cities Inclusive Entrepreneurship Program, supported by the Ewing Marion Kaufman Foundation, is an initiative of the National League of Cities that challenges city leaders to commit to a year-long commitment to inclusive economic development policies, programs, or practices.

Community Legal Aid, a nonprofit civil legal aid program serving low-income and senior citizens in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, and Worcester Counties, received the award for its CORI (Offender Record Information)/Reentry Project. Funded by the Massachusetts Department of Economic Development's Community Empowerment and Reinvestment Grant Program, Community Legal Aid's advocacy and community education efforts address the civil consequences of client involvement in the criminal court system. will be supported. Community Legal Aid's CORI/Reentry Division is overseen by attorney Alyssa Golden, who leads a team of attorneys operating out of offices in Northampton, Springfield, Pittsfield, and Worcester. Last year, the project helped more than 200 people have their records expunged and sealed. Golden and her team also provide training for community members and staff from local social service organizations.
