The chairman of the Iowa Republican Party says it's “all about” electing Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
More than 1,000 Iowa Republicans gathered in Clive on Saturday for the party's state convention. Party Chairman Jeff Kaufman told delegates that the party's top priority is the presidential election.
“Every time we take action between now and November, we're going to ask ourselves, 'How does this help put Donald Trump back in the White House?' That's all that matters,” Kaufman said to cheers. Raised. “…That's the only mission of the Iowa Republican Party through November of this year – to win, win, win with the Republican Party. That's why we exist.”
Mr. Kaufman acknowledged that some in his party have “reservations” about Mr. Trump, but suggested he has also been consulting with President Biden on a variety of issues.
“If that's not what you want, there's only one choice: Donald J. Trump,” Kaufman said to cheers.
Gov. Kim Reynolds referenced January's Iowa caucuses in her state convention speech. Ron DeSantis, the candidate she supported last November, won with 21% of the vote. Trump won 51%.

Reynolds released a written statement supporting Trump in March and reiterated it verbally on Saturday. “He's a fighter. He's a leader. He'll close the borders on day one. He'll get our economy back, and our enemies will know America is back!” '' Reynolds said to cheers.
Attorney General Brenna Byrd, who endorsed Trump before the Iowa caucuses, said the Trump campaign is relying on a landslide victory in Iowa so it can focus on wins in other states. “You know what I said to him? 'Don't worry. We work hard here in Iowa. We have election integrity. Iowa is protecting you.' ''' Bird said before asking the audience.
Participants were shown video messages from Iowa senators, who called on Iowa Republicans to “resolutely” work to elect Trump. The Des Moines Register's Iowa Poll, conducted at the end of February, showed Trump leading Joe Biden by 15 points in Iowa.
