Kennedy, the son of liberal icon Robert Kennedy, is running in third place, far behind President Joe Biden and the presumptive Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump. But Mr. Kennedy's approval rating is high enough, at 8 percent in a USA TODAY/Suffolk University poll released Monday, to be a key factor in the swing states that will decide the election.
Biden's Democratic allies branded Kennedy a “campaign spoiler” trying to help Trump, and the Trump campaign said Kennedy's biggest donor also donated to the former president. It attempts to portray Mr. Kennedy as a left-wing radical.
Other celebrities supporting Kennedy include actor and comedian Rob Schneider and New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
