Ishaan Chanda of Brentwood High School and Malvika Rao of Ravenwood High School have been selected as 2024 U.S. Presidential Scholar semifinalists.
Ishaan and Malvika are two of the 18 semifinalists from Tennessee. Ishaan was selected as a semifinalist for her U.S. Presidential Scholar in Career and Technical Education.
“Ishaan's commitment to excellence is beyond reproach,” said BHS marketing teacher Lisa Nice. “He is a man who makes things happen and excels in academics, leadership, and emotional intelligence. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be successful in whatever he chooses to do in life. His teachers It was an honor to be a DECA advisor for four years. ”
Malvika was selected as a U.S. Presidential Scholar Semi-Finalist.
“I am honored to teach Malvika Advanced Placement (AP) Biology this year,” said RHS science teacher Macy Roe. “She is deserving of this recognition. Malvika’s dedication to academic excellence, unwavering work ethic, and boundless motivation is an inspiration to all of us. We congratulate her on her outstanding accomplishments and we hope her passion for learning continues to fuel her success as she begins her path to college this fall.”
Thousands of students were nominated for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, and 6,000 students were selected as candidates. Of these candidates, only 625 students were selected as semi-finalists. Presidential Scholars are selected based on academic success, artistic and technical excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, and commitment to community service and leadership.
