Choose your presidential vote wisely
The 2024 election has nothing to do with whether you like Joe Biden or Donald Trump. It’s about whether you want our country to continue as a democracy, or whether you want to elect an authoritarian (Trump) who promises to dismantle our Constitution, bring about retribution on his perceived enemies, including blue states, and take away many of the freedoms we have always enjoyed.
This is not my delusion. Trump is already telling us what he will do. During his previous term, he abolished the constitutional right to abortion. Approximately 24 states currently ban or restrict abortion procedures.
If re-elected, he has promised to enact a nationwide abortion ban based on the strict Comstock Laws of the 1860s. He plans to expand on the law's intent to ban birth control and medications such as mifepristone. Next, he is likely to challenge issues such as marriage law, affordable health care, and Social Security.
Meanwhile, President Biden has the strongest economy in this century. He passed the largest infrastructure bill of our time. He is a passionate supporter of NATO, our allies in the Middle East and the Far East. He's accomplished more than most presidents, Republican or Democratic, and he's done it while MAGA opponents have wreaked havoc in Congress and the presidential election.
Whatever your criticism of Biden, please remember that your vote is a vote for democracy. Free and fair elections cannot be held under a dictatorship.
This year, the choice is between Biden and someone who poses a real threat to our future. Choose wisely while you still have a choice.

Columns about death hit the mark with readers.
I wish all newspapers would repeat Stephen Delko's op-ed (“How the U.S. Supreme Court's decision will increase mortality rates,'' 5/14/24).
He spoke, among other things, of the needless deaths caused in our country by recent Supreme Court decisions that limit access to health care, promote gun use in communities, and cut off access to reproductive health care. He writes concisely and conclusively about
I would particularly like to note his comments on the 2010 decision in Citizens United v. FEC. This decision allowed politicians to receive a large influx of unidentified and unregulated money, leading them to support legislation that favored wealthy campaign donors.
This dark money is being used in every attempt to advance Delco's issues, climate change, income inequality, racial equity, gender equality, voting rights, all the very issues that we as a people care about. interfere with And they will never stop that trend without reversing Citizens United's disastrous decision.
