EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Valerie Corral, a young El Paso dog walker and entrepreneur, went viral for her social media posts promoting her business.
In her ad, a dog walks away from her and tries to chase another dog.
Corral, 10, said she was surprised when her failed ad went viral.
“I was walking with Bailey in the park and we were filming a video for an ad. She saw the dog and got really excited. So she tried to run with the intention of saying 'hello' to the dog. I think it was a mistake, but it's okay,” Corral said.
She told KTSM that the feedback she received has helped her dog walking business gain new customers.
“They said they would never let me go, as if they wanted to hire me,” Corral said.
Corral said she decided to start a small business and create advertisements for it while her mother was hospitalized due to a work-related injury.
Corral said he was worried about his mother and tried to raise money himself to help her.
“She started walking her dog with a neighbor. She came back and had some money in her hand. She came home from the hospital. She hugged me and said, ' What do you think, Mom?” She has $20 in case she has surgery,” Corral's mother said.
Corral's mother told KTSM she thought it was a heartwarming gesture and said her daughter didn't need it.
Since then, Corral said her parents have supported her and let her continue as it's like a hobby.
“That's what I like to do in my free time. It's so much fun. I like walking dogs. They're just furry animals. When a dog jumps, I just give it a hug. When I think about it and see the smile on the dog's face, I feel happy inside,'' Corral said.
KTSM asked Coral what she planned to do with the money she earned, and she said she was saving up for college.
Corral said she would like to travel the world and walk dogs one day.
