Miller, a Silver Creek graduate, replaces Lisa Roloff, who resigned in February. Brent Aggett is serving as interim business office manager following Roloff's retirement. Mr. Miller's appointment will begin June 1, and the terms of his contract will be negotiated by Superintendent Dr. Katie Ralston.
Mr Miller said in a letter to the school community: “As a lifelong resident and proud SCCS graduate, this role is more than just a job to me; it is a heartfelt dedication to the community that has shaped the person I am.”
Miller grew up on Babcock Street and still lives in the nearby village. After she graduated from Silver Creek College, Miller pursued higher education at her local State University of New York at Fredonia, where she earned a bachelor's degree in English and school psychology. She then earned a master's degree in sports management from Canisius University. Mr. Miller has worked at M&T Bank for the past eight years.
“We are very excited to have him. He will be a great addition to the Silver Creek family.” Ralston said.
At a recent meeting, the board not only added community members to its staff; He also received an award recognizing his years of service.
Gregory Cole was awarded the Level 3 Master Award under the New York State School Boards Association Excellence Recognition Program. Mr. Cole received a letter of commendation from the state level in recognition of his efforts as a board member.
The New York State School Boards Association recognizes four levels of the Certificate of Excellence Program, and for each level you can earn credits by attending trainings, workshops, and various other events. Committee members can also earn credits for serving in roles such as chair or advocacy liaison.
Cole is a past school board president and has served on the Silver Creek school board since 2013. In addition to his role at Silver Creek, he also serves on the board of directors for Erie 2 Chautauqua Cattaraugus BOCES.
At a recent meeting, the board also thanked High School Principal Kyle Yelich for his contributions to the district. Yelich plans to resign at the end of the school year.
“We wish him all the best in his next endeavor. He definitely made an impact during his time here.” Ralston said.
