ATLANTA — The University System of Georgia has approved salary increases for the 2025 fiscal year for all university presidents in the system.
That means all 26 chancellors in Georgia's public higher education system will receive what officials call a cost-of-living adjustment to their salaries.
“FY2025 president compensation reflects a state-approved $3,000 COLA increase and, in some cases, includes adjustments to retain some of the most accomplished university presidents in the country. In a competitive market for leadership in higher education, we want to compete for and retain the best talent,” USG officials said. “The board-approved compensation is designed to reflect the president's responsibilities as the chief executive of each institution and to be competitive with leaders of institutions of similar size, mission and impact.”

According to USG, the highest-paid university president in 2024 will be Jere Morehead of the University of Georgia.
Georgia Tech President Angel Cabrera is close behind in salary, but he will receive an additional $250,000 on top of his listed salary because of what Georgia Tech calls deferred pay.
