(The Center Square) President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are tied in a head-to-head race, according to the latest Marquette Law School poll.
The results were announced on Thursday.
In a question asking voters to choose between Robert Kennedy Jr., Jill Stein and Cornel West, Trump leads Biden 40% to 37%, with Kennedy coming in second with 17%, and Stein and West each with 3%.
Trump leads among likely voters, 51% to 49%.
The latest poll shows little change from the previous Marquette University poll conducted in March, which showed Biden about four points behind Trump in popularity.
Vice President Kamala Harris has the worst approval rating at -24, compared to Biden at -21 and Trump at -17.
“Mr. Biden's net favorability rating fell from -5 in November 2021 to -21 in this survey, while Mr. Trump's net favorability rating improved from -34 in November 2021 to -17 in this survey,” the poll's authors wrote.
Biden's approval rating is 40% and 60% disapproval.
The poll showed respondents thought Trump would do a better job on immigration, border security, the economy, Israel's war with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and foreign relations. Voters said Biden would do a better job on Medicare, Social Security, health care, abortion and ensuring fair and accurate elections.
Wisconsin is considered a battleground state in November. Biden won the state 49.5% to 48.8% in 2020. Trump defeated Hillary Clinton 47.2% to 46.5% in 2016.
Poll conducted May 6-15 of 902 registered voters nationwide. Margin of error is +/- 4.6 percentage points. For likely voters, sample size is 684 with a margin of error of +/- 5.2 percentage points. For all adults, sample size is 1,033 with a margin of error of +/- 4.3 percentage points.
