Former President Donald Trump has been convicted, with a Manhattan jury finding him guilty on Thursday (May 30) of all 34 charges of falsifying business records after a seven-week trial.
The verdict makes Trump the first former president to be convicted of a felony. In his case, he was accused of covering up a $130,000 payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep her from disclosing an alleged sexual relationship during the 2016 presidential election. Despite losing to current President Joe Biden in 2020, Trump remains the Republican front-runner in the 2024 presidential election.
Trump is currently awaiting sentencing, likely to be fined or face up to four years in prison. Everything will be decided at his trial, scheduled for July 11.
