Burke further noted that relationships between celebrity contestants and dance partners tend to be one of either extreme love or extreme dislike, depending on the amount of time they spend together when they are committed to the sport.

She also said celebrities need to show “vulnerability,” which can be quite new for stars who are always loyal to a particular brand or used to performing.
“It's a very close relationship and you can't be with that person… You better at least try to make it work,” she said, referring to a former celebrity contestant who admitted to having a crush on her dance partner, but both were married at the time and the relationship didn't progress.
“It's intimate in so many ways. These celebrities are so vulnerable because they have to strip it all off in order to be successful. And that's it? Most of these married celebrities probably haven't even done that with their partners.” [partners]” said Burke.
