Margolies has appeared on numerous talk shows and her quirky anecdotes often make her a social media sensation, helping her make a “tremendous amount of money” from personalized video app Cameo.
Over the years she has appeared on the BBC One talk show alongside stars such as Gemma Arterton, Will.i.am and Stanley Tucci. Inheritance The film stars Sarah Snook and Matthew Perry, who plays an episode that left her with a feeling of “regret.”
However, there was just one guest the Harry Potter star “disliked” – Lily Allen.
“When she was on the show, she thought it was all about her,” Margolyes explained in an interview with author Philip Sands. “She was thinking, 'Who is this woman? Who is Miriam?'”
Margolies added about the singer-turned-actress: “She was unfriendly and I didn't like that so I reacted negatively. She was a lot younger than me and I should have been teaching her manners, which wasn't a very nice thing.”
The episode in question aired in 2014, and saw the pair appear on the sofa alongside Dominic Cooper.
Independent Allen has been contacted for comment.
Allen wasn't the only celebrity Margolyes criticised during her Hay Festival panel interview: she also said Monty Python star John Cleese had “turned into a jerk” and that Bill Oddie was “not a nice guy”.
Margolies is dead friend star Perry made headlines after he shared an adult anecdote that left the actress in trouble.
As the audience laughed, a visibly shocked Perry said, “I honestly don't think I've ever felt more uncomfortable in my life.”
“While Matthew expected a bland, surface-level conversation,” Margolies wrote in her memoir, “I was passionate about my subject and quickly dove into the conversation, digging deeper.”
