A member of the Tesla Supercharger team who recently rejoined the electric car maker noted that the company will likely remain a leader in the EV charging industry for the foreseeable future.
In a LinkedIn post, TJ Connolly, charging program manager and North American business development lead at Tesla, shared his recent experience with the electric car maker: According to Connolly, the layoff of most members of the Supercharger team at the end of April was hard to accept, but the overwhelming support he received was remarkable.
Then, two weeks ago, Connolly said he, like the rest of the Supercharger team who were fired, had received an invitation to return to Tesla. As he noted in a LinkedIn post, he accepted the electric car maker's invitation.
Interestingly, Connolly asserted in his post that “the EV charging industry is OK” and that “Tesla will continue to lead and inspire the industry, delivering the best customer experience with best-in-class products and support.”
Below is the full text of Connolly's LinkedIn post:
Two weeks ago I was asked to return to the Tesla charging team.
Thinking back to my first days at the Fremont factory in April 2018, during orientation for our Leadership Development Program, a guest speaker asked us, “Why Tesla?”
I volunteered my first answer, telling the strangers in the room openly that I believed Tesla could make the world a better place for children not yet born, their children, and all those yet to be born. I wanted to be part of a mission that would inspire others, upend traditions, and make people excited to wake up to work every day.
The abrupt end of my tenure at Tesla on April 30, 2024 was hard to accept. There was still so much work to be done. The tremendous support I received from our commercial and multifamily real estate partners, as well as our EV charging and distribution partners, was incredible. Wise words from family, friends, and mentors made me realize how lucky I am.
Thank you all, you all reinforced what I already knew and I am happy to let you know that I have accepted the invitation to come back again.
I will return for my valued partner.
I'm back with some great teammates to finish what I started.
I came back to continue making the world a better place for my (now 3) children.
Please forgive me if my response is delayed, but I assure you that the EV charging industry is fine.
Tesla will continue to lead and inspire while providing the best customer experience through best-in-class products and support.
I am excited to continue helping to shape the future of the Wall Connector and Supercharger programs, along with Max de Zeger, George Bahadu and many others, and to build longer-term, mutually beneficial relationships with leaders in both the real estate and charging industries.
Now, let's charge.
