Boston police said Friday they are investigating a daring scheme that led to a group of robbers fleeing with nearly a quarter of a million dollars. “I've been in this business for 34 years and I've never had a problem,” the owner of an East Boston check-cashing business told WCVB's Mary Saladana, without revealing his identity. Around 9:30 a.m., the man called police to say he'd withdrawn $240,000 in cash from Berkshire Bank near Fenway Park earlier in the day. He then drove to his business on Meridian Street in East Boston when two men approached him from behind, identified themselves as police officers and said they had a warrant for his arrest, police said. According to the police report, the victim said one of the men pulled him out of the car, and the two got in and drove off. “A guy banged on my car window,” the man told WCVB. “He said, 'You have a warrant for your arrest.'” “He opened the door, grabbed me by the back of my neck and threw me to the side,” the man said. “The next thing I knew, he had jumped in his car,” the man said. The black Audi A6 was found about 100 yards away with an empty wallet. The man said there was another $1,100 in cash in the wallet, which was also in the car. Sky 5 captured images of the car surrounded by yellow police tape near the intersection of Border and Lexington Streets, with detectives taking photos. The car was towed from the scene. Boston Police said both suspects are described as white or white-Hispanic males wearing dark clothing and hats. No weapons were used during the robberies and no injuries were reported, police said.
