I spent $137 to stay at a steamboat themed hotel in Lancaster, PA.
The hotel was clean and cheap, and the common areas and rooms had a fun steamboat theme.
We loved the hotel's outdoor space with its stunning views of the nearby farmland.
On a recent trip to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, instead of booking a standard hotel room, I decided to stay overnight at the steamboat-themed Fulton Steamboat Inn.
Hotel prices seem to be on a never ending upward trend since last year, so I would rather spend my money on a unique lodging experience.
This adorable hotel is just a 15-minute drive from downtown Lancaster and the nearby Amish community, and was the perfect base for an overnight stay.
Here's what I thought of my stay at this lovely inn for $137 a night.
The building looked like a turn-of-the-century steamship.
After parking at the Fulton Steamboat Inn, I noticed that the ship looked just like a turn-of-the-century steamboat, with plenty of red, white and blue flags emblazoned on it.
The bright white balconies really stood out against the beautiful light grey buildings, and I loved the black chimneys on the roof topped with shiny gold crowns.
My room was clean and comfortable.
We loved our two queen room at the Fulton Steamboat Inn.
The first thing I noticed was that the room seemed very clean, it had two very comfortable beds, a small sitting area, and plenty of storage space for two people.
The TV stand is equipped with a large mini-fridge, microwave and DVD player, or you can rent DVDs from the store near the main lobby to watch in your room.
There were lots of cute vintage details.
Between the beds was a small table with a nautical-themed lamp, a vintage-style rotary phone, and an alarm clock with a USB plug.
The bathroom was larger than expected.
A pocket door divided the bathroom into two main sections: the first small area had one sink, and the room beyond the door contained another sink, a toilet, and a tub with a showerhead.
I was pleasantly surprised by the rubber duck.
What I liked most about the bathroom were the rubber ducks placed on the complimentary toiletries tray.
The hotel's kitschy yet fun atmosphere helps it stand out from its nearby competitors.
The hotel has rooms with local attractions.
There is so much to do in Lancaster and the surrounding area, so I loved that the hotel had a room dedicated to sightseeing.
The walls were covered with maps and brochures detailing various activities and restaurants.
I picked up the pamphlet Amish-style buffet It's called a restaurant Miller's Smorgasbord And we ended up having dinner there.
There were also two restaurants in the hotel.
The first is Huck's Tavern, a nautical-themed bar with a regularly changing cocktail menu and light fare like nachos and chicken wings.
The other is Huckleberry's Restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and seemed to be pretty busy every time I passed by, with a lovely aroma wafting through the air at dinnertime.
Outside there are plenty of covered pavilions and benches.
There were several covered pavilions and seating areas around the property, and we loved that most of these outdoor spaces faced the property's duck pond and nearby farmland, allowing us to soak up the views.
It was a nice spot in the evening to watch the sunset and listen to the birds singing, but it was also popular in the mornings with many people getting free coffee in the hotel lobby and taking it outside to enjoy the fresh air.
Families with children will love the play area.
I wasn't Traveling with ChildrenHowever, there was a large play area for children on the premises, which included a sailboat-themed climbing frame and a large wooden train.
I was also happy that the playground was right next to the parking lot and was fenced in.
The hotel had a nice small indoor pool.
The hotel's indoor pool wasn't very large, but was adequate for the number of guests.
It was especially popular with the kids after dinner.
The pool area also had a hot tub for guest use.
I would love to stay at the Fulton Steamboat Inn again.
We had a wonderful experience staying at the Fulton Steamboat Inn.
This hotel had all the basic necessities for a short stay, was perfectly located, and was very reasonably priced at $137 per night.
I loved that there were lots of outdoor common areas to enjoy, the rooms were clean, and I think this is a great place for families visiting Lancaster.
