- Apple TV+ has released a first look at season 2 of “Severance.”
- Star Britt Lauer recently spoke to Business Insider about what to expect from the new season.
- Lower is starring in two films premiering at the TriBeCa Film Festival.
Severance season 2 is on the way, and according to one star, the scope of the sci-fi thriller's universe is expanding.
Starring Parks and Recreation's Adam Scott, the Apple TV+ series centers on the workers of the mysterious LuMon Industries, a company that “disconnects” some of its employees' memories through voluntary medical procedures, effectively separating the workforce into “Innies,” who are only conscious at work, and “Outies,” who only experience home life and are unaware of what goes on inside LuMon's offices. Scott plays Mark S., a LuMon employee who grows suspicious of the company and begins to uncover what's really going on there.
The first season, which was full of twists and turns and had a final episode packed with shocking revelations, aired over two years ago, leaving fans eager to know what would happen next. Production on the second season began in October 2022, but was halted due to the 2023 writers' and actors' strike and reports of behind-the-scenes creative differences.
Business Insider spoke with Britt Lauer, who plays Helly R. on the show, about her new film, which had its world premiere at the TriBeCa Film Festival on Saturday, a “shallow tale of a writer who decides to write about serial killers.” During the conversation, we also touched on “Severance,” and while Lauer was tight-lipped about details, she did reveal what the film will be about.
When asked to describe Season 2 in one word, Lauer told BI, “expansive.”
The actress didn't reveal any details about the storyline, but did confirm that the season, which finished filming in April, is currently in the post-production stage.
“So, it's coming up,” said Lauer, who's been keeping busy during the offseason (she had a great performance in “Shallow Tale” with Steve Buscemi and John Magaro, and she also stars in “Darkest Miriam,” another film that premiered at TriBeCa).
Sure enough, on Monday, Apple TV+ released a first look at the highly anticipated revival of the critically acclaimed sci-fi series.
“Your innies have already seen this one,” the streamer captioned a photo of Scott, Mark S., holding a bunch of blue balloons that appear to have Mark's face on them.
In addition to the promotional image, an Apple TV+ slate teaser featured snippets of footage from the upcoming season, including what appears to be the same balloon scene.
In the clip, featured in the opening seconds of the streamer's Slate teaser, Mark exits an elevator and descends onto a siloed floor of LuMon's office. He's wearing a name tag and appears to be greeted by Seth Miltich (Tramell Tillman), the corporate supervisor for LuMon's siloed floor.
“Welcome back,” said Mirczyk, holding a blue balloon. “It's been a while.”
Then, 45 seconds into the video, Mark is seen experiencing a bizarre moment where he runs down a hallway while alternating between casual outie clothes and innie work clothes while lying down on a conference table.
Though Apple TV+ is yet to confirm the release date, it is expected that “Severance” season 2 will be released soon.
