Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce have become major investors in Ohio-based light beer company Garage Beer. ESPN's Adam Schefter It was reported on Wednesday.
This marks the Kelce brothers' first joint venture since launching their hugely popular podcast, “New Heights,” in 2022, and the first time the University of Cincinnati alumni will serve as significant owners and operators of a business together.
“People are craving quality and simplicity, and Garage beer gives me both,” Jason Kelsey said in a press release. “We're all about light beer drinkers, and Garage is the best light beer. For me, the brand fits my lifestyle, and having a few beers is a great excuse to get together with the neighborhood.”
Travis Kelsey added, “For me, it's all about quality. You all know I love to have a beer every now and then, so it's really exciting to be the owner of Garage Beer and be so involved in making the best light beer around! Nothing brings people together like an ice cold beer, and for Jason and I, beer is about friends, family and fun.”
The Kelce brothers have been in negotiations with the beer brand for the past two years and “will be involved in all aspects of the business, including brewing, distribution, sales, marketing and national expansion efforts,” the press release stated.
Founded in Cincinnati in January 2023, Garage Beer is currently headquartered in Columbus, Ohio and is distributed in 13 states with plans to expand to “dozens” more states this year.
“We want to make beer that tastes like beer and has a local story to tell,” said Garage Beer co-owner Andy Sauer. “Garage prides itself on small batches and a commitment to quality. From the first time I spoke with Travis and Jason, it was clear we have similar views on beer, but they also have great and very interesting business acumen. Our team needs to buckle up now.”
