Trophy Wines at the 2021 Royal Sydney Wine Show
It was announced that Sandra Przybilla will be honoured at the 2021 Royal Sydney Wine Show Lunch, held on 16 December, in recognition of her many years of contribution to the Australian wine industry.
Sandra has helped build the industry as a retailer, wholesaler, industry leader and a pioneer of diversity and inclusion in the beverage industry.
Sandra said she was “honored and humbled” by the recognition.
“We are thrilled to present this honour to Sandra,” Wine Communicators Australia (WCA) Executive Officer Andrew Stark said.
“Her long career as an industry leader has helped many wine-related companies tell their stories more effectively and made the industry more welcoming to female professionals.”
Sandra’s diverse career includes roles as General Manager of the renowned Peter Doyle Cellars, Managing Director of NILWA, CEO of the Drinks Association and Chair of the Women’s Drinks Council.
Sandra becomes the ninth person in NSW to be awarded the title 'Legend of the Vine', joining an honourable national list which includes Lindy Milan, Huon Hook, Clive Hartley, Ian Riggs, Rob Hurst and David Rowe.
The Legend of the Vine awards were first introduced in New South Wales in 2014 and have since expanded to Victoria and South Australia, with awards presented annually in each state.
The WCA Board of Directors and state chapters select candidates from each state, with the final winner being determined by the WCA National Board of Directors.
The WCA was established as a national not-for-profit organisation in December 2010, evolving from the well-regarded Wine Press Clubs in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
The association aims to be Australia's leading organisation connecting business professionals working in the wine industry and currently has over 700 members.
WCA’s annual program includes networking events, webinars and lavish lunches in conjunction with wine shows in the three major capital cities of Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.
The organization also administers the annual Wine Communicator Awards, the Legends of the Vine Awards, the Wine Industry Mentor Program and the Wine Media Cadet Program.
Other top awards at the wine show included Tyrrell's 2013 Vat 1 Semillon winning four Sydney Royal Trophies, including the trophy for Best Wine of Show, and Orlando's 2018 Lindale Chardonnay winning the AP John Cooper's Perennial Trophy for Best Chardonnay.
