Eileen Cannon, the judge trying former President Donald Trump's classified documents case, has refused private requests from federal judges to recuse herself from the case since she was appointed to it last year.
The New York Times Two experienced South Florida judges reportedly told her it would be better for them to hand the case over to another judge, but Cannon opted to stay.
Her assignment raised concerns about her lack of trial experience and her previous involvement in a criminal investigation that led to Trump's indictment in his favor.
A series of hearings on motions to dismiss the case, including an attempt to void the appointment of special prosecutor Jack Smith, are scheduled for Friday.
Meanwhile, the latest Fox News national presidential poll puts Trump two points behind Joe Biden, marking the first time the president has led the survey since October last year.
An infuriated Trump took to Truth Social to slam the conservative networks, calling their polls “garbage,” complaining that “no one can trust Fox News” and telling the Murdoch family, “All we need is Trump.”

Trump campaign reports having more money than Biden campaign
As both campaigns build up their war chests ahead of the election, financial disclosures on Thursday showed for the first time that the cash holdings in President Donald Trump's main campaign account now surpass those in the account of Joe Biden's re-election campaign.
The Trump campaign had about $116 million in the bank at the end of May, more than double what it had a month earlier, while the Biden campaign told the Federal Election Commission it had about $91 million in its account, slightly more than what it had at the end of April.
The full picture of the campaigns' finances is unclear because both had until Thursday to report their finances to federal regulators, but some of their associated fundraising committees won't report on their recent activities until July.
Biden's campaign and his party had previously released an unofficial figure putting his cash holdings at $212 million, but did not say which committees held the money.
The figures, released to the Federal Election Commission, appear to mark a dramatic financial turnaround for the Trump campaign, which trailed Biden earlier this year. The two candidates are neck and neck in national polls, but Trump has leads in several battleground states.

Trump slams latest Fox News poll as 'garbage'
Donald Trump continues to complain about Fox News. Here's what he wrote to Truth Social:
The latest Fox News poll is garbage! They used a biased Democrat-leaning voter sample, surveyed more Biden 2020 voters than Trump 2020 voters, and skewed the results in Crazy Joe's favor. I'm leading by a large margin in almost every other poll, including all the key battleground states like Wisconsin, where we had a massive rally, and Pennsylvania, which I'll be visiting on Saturday.
Also, the biggest problem in this country is not defending democracy. It's inflation and immigration! If you want to defend democracy, Trump is the best choice because the fraudulent Joe Biden is the biggest threat ever to democracy with his open borders and weaponizing the justice system against me, his political enemy! Fox News polls have never treated me or the MAGAs fairly! Don't worry, we will win! Fox News should fire Paul Ryan and hire a new pollster, but they won't….
…Real Clear Politics just came out and I have a big lead, especially in key battleground states. It’s the best it’s ever been, despite Biden’s “weaponization of justice.”

“We had a good relationship, but he was really, really upset that I had to stand up and say, 'No, it's not going to magically go away, and hydroxychloroquine doesn't work, no matter what Laura Ingraham says.'

RFK Jr. fails to qualify for CNN presidential debate
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been disqualified from competing in next week's first presidential debate, hosted by CNN.
The independent presidential candidate will not join President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump on stage in Atlanta on June 27.
In a story published Thursday morning, the network said only Biden and Trump met the “constitutional, voting eligibility and polling standards,” and that the 45th and 46th presidents are the only ones to have met those standards.
Kennedy failed to meet the 15 percent approval threshold in at least four national polls endorsed by CNN, and only did so in three before the midnight Eastern time cutoff last night.
Kennedy also does not meet the requirement to run in enough states to secure the 270 electoral votes. He is believed to be running in 10 states, with his attempts to run in others delayed by verification and filing procedures.
Kennedy filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission in May against CNN and the Biden and Trump campaigns over the way the debate was set up.
There's a chance he could still appear in the Sept. 10 debate hosted by ABC News.
“President Biden and President Trump do not want me on the debate stage, and CNN illegally acceded to their demands,” RFK Jr.'s statement read.
“President Biden and President Trump's exclusion of me from the debate is undemocratic, un-American and cowardly. Americans want an independent leader who will break with the two-party system of polarization. We want a president who will heal our divisions, restore the middle class, dismantle the war machine and end the chronic disease epidemic.”
