SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Excessive rain and flooding in southeastern South Dakota led to the closure of many businesses, roads and events on Friday, June 21st.

Lincoln County
Lincoln County Emergency Manager Harold Timmerman told KELOLAND News that people are being advised not to travel until the rain stops.
“We advise against travel unless absolutely necessary until after the next rainy season,” Timmerman said.
Turner County
The Turner County Sheriff's Office has issued a no-travel order.
“Up to 5 inches of rain has fallen in the last 24 hours,” the sheriff's office said on Facebook. “Many roads in Turner County are flooded. Well crews are working to mark all the locations where water has crossed roads, this will take some time. If you must go somewhere, be prepared to make a detour and avoid crossing flooded roads.”
US-18 between I-29 and the Iowa border
According to South Dakota 511, I-29 is closed due to flooding between mile markers 59 and 64. Please consider alternate routes until further notice. I-29 between the Iowa state line and Sioux Falls is closed due to a construction project that was submerged by floodwaters.
I-90 near Brandon
South Dakota 511 says westbound travelers may experience flooding within a 3-mile to 1-mile radius east of exit 364 on U.S. 81 until further notice.
I-90 Westbound in Minnesota
I-90 is closed between Luverne and Worthington due to flooding, according to Minnesota 511. Please choose an alternate route.
Sioux Falls Parks and Streets
From the City of Sioux Falls: As of 10:20 a.m., Madison Street is closed at 12th Street and Lamesa Avenue between Sertoma Avenue and Lamesa Avenue.
The city also said some sections of the bike path have been closed due to flooding. Closures will be marked by barricades on the sidewalk.
